Certification
To become a coach with Salmon Hockey, you must complete each step below before you are able to interact with your team.
USA Hockey Registration
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. The cost is $52.
Coaching Clinics
Only one clinic can be completed per season. Clinics are open from June 15th to December 15th and must be completed by December 31st to be valid for the current season. The cost is $65.
Age-Specific Modules
Coaches cannot participate in any team activities or be added to a roster until they have completed the coordinating modules. The cost is $20 for the 6U/8U module; all others are $25. Modules are required only once per age level.
Safe Sport
Taking a Safe Sport course is required every year. Coaches cannot skate with players, or be added to a roster until they are Safe Sport certified.
Background Screening
In compliance with USA Hockey, all coaches must pass a background screening before engaging with youth. For more information on NCSI Criminal Background Screenings, click here.
